About
Our curriculum is designed for those who have completed their formal paralegal education and
wish to gain a professional edge in their industry.
When you join BPTU you become part of a supportive learning community that enables you to connect with fellow learners, share experiences, and collaborate with your instructors, fostering a sense of camaraderie.
To ensure our students receive the attention they deserve we designed a course and community platform to complement our courses. This platform has 16 practice specific working groups that will open doors to resources and networking opportunities with people who are shaping the future of the legal industry.
A Backward Design Approach to Learning
Welcome to Beyond Paralegals Training U (BPTU), an online teaching and learning center created for legal professionals in all stages of their career who want to learn new skills to future proof their careers.
At BPTU we thought "beyond" the ordinary when planning our courses. First we brought together over 165 years of combined experience to each course and designed a step-by-step instructional training program that will not only help you fast track your career, but help you future proof your career.
Then we took a "backward design" approach to creating our courses. We asked ourselves what we want our students to learn in our courses, or what they should be able to do by time it ends. Our answers then reflect our learning objectives for our courses and helped us design our syllabus*.
Our final task brings us to the "front" of our "backward design" — which is to plan our courses. With the end in mind, it was easy for us to design the courses our students need to obtain the objectives set out in our courses.
With this type of skill-based design in place, though "backward" in design, prompts us to further consider the conditions under which our students are most likely to meet these goals.
After all, we want our students to meet (or exceed) the challenges we set for them, especially when their accomplishment is proof that they have learned exactly what we intended them to learn from the very beginning— and we don't think there is anything "backward" about that.
We look forward to having you as a student!
